More Christmas shenanigans at High Vinnalls...

What more could we do with only seven days to go? At Bath's Best Boarding House, we always find things to make the children's time special and fun. Wacky Wednesday saw the boarders visit Mr & Mrs Brearey's house for pizza and the odd sweet thing!

Last weekend saw the KPS Christmas Fayre and what a beautiful day it was! The sun shone, the playground was awash with activity and the hall was filled with sweets! The children had a fabulous time.

The evening saw us visit the theatre at the Senior School to watch the Kingswood @ 20 Gala Performance which was a celebration of the various shows that have taken place for the last two decades. It was a truly inspiring evening, with so many talented children showing off their skills in front of a packed house.

Sunday came and this time the theatre was visited for a very different type of performance - the pantomime! Dick Whittington was on show at the Bristol Hippodrome with Ashleigh and Pudsey of Britain's Got Talent fame the main attraction. The usual 'he's behind you' and the booing of the Queen Rat made for a great time which was thoroughly enjoyed by all but by Mrs Ward in particular!

Christmas shenanigans at Bath's Best Boarding House...

Finding the time in the last couple of weeks to keep you up to date with what has been going at High Vinnalls has been difficult; it has just been so busy and so much fun!

The last weekend of November saw the world famous Bath Christmas Market open in front of Bath Abbey and we managed to make our way around the various stalls looking at the beautiful things that were on display. This was followed by ice skating in Victoria Park which got the children in a very festive mood.

After a very busy and tiring day, decoration making was the name of the game in order to rest our weary bodies and engage our creative thinking. T-shirts were designed, cards and decorations made and it was a wonderful way to get the children into the Christmas spirit.

On Sunday evening, there was a very special atmosphere at Bath's Best Boarding House as we all sat down and enjoyed a wonderful Advent meal that was superbly designed and cooked by our catering team. With candles and posh tablecloths it really did feel very grown up!

Then it was time for the grand Christmas Light switch on - who needs Oxford Street and the Blackpool Illuminations when we can provide excitement at Bath's Best Boarding House! Whilst others had pop stars and TV royalty as their special guests, not one of these could compare to our very own 'Baby Christmas Pudding' who had the privilege of pressing the switch!

¡Hola from Bath's Best Boarding House...

Anticipation and excitement were evident as High Vinnalls' termly theme night was upon us and a big cheer went up when Wednesday morning arrived...

We were led in 'Grace' (in Spanish of course) before breakfast which was very impressive - and much more impressive than Mrs. Ward's attempted singing of the 1970's classic 'Y Viva Espana'!

It wasn't until the evening, however, that the fun and games began - beautiful senoritas and a bunch of Barcelona and Real Madrid shirts were on display as we sat down to our exquisite Spanish buffet which the children sumptuously enjoyed. Dessert was just as divine as the children dipped their churros into a bowl of chocolate sauce....mmmmmmm!

With bellies full, it was on to the next part of the evening - Spanish themed games and activities. The first one was 'Pass the Sombrero' with a twist - no hands were allowed and it had to passed using only your chin!

Our own Spanish dancing queen then taught everyone how to Flamenco...

For a bit of quiet time, the boarders then made some beautiful tile designs...

Phew......what next I hear you cry - well see if you can guess what our last activity would be and can you spot our special guest?

It was a great evening and so much fun was had by all - Mrs. Ward worked another of her miracles and put on a treat which just goes to show why we proudly call ourselves 'Bath's Best Boarding House'.

Adios, amigos!
