Bath's Best Boarding 'House' plays bingo...

Bath's Best Boarding House was busting at the seams on Wednesday as several day children came along to try out the whole boarding experience at High Vinnalls - and what a great time we had! Bingo was the name of the game after our evening meal as Messrs. Ward & Hull donned their tuxedos to become the bingo callers for the evening and Mrs. Ward dressed up too...as a clown!

Nothing but the finest prizes were on offer - a box of Disney's 'Frozen tissues, a set of felt tip colouring pens, a colouring book and a neck pillow were just some of the things on offer from Mrs. Ward's bag of surprises. The children were brilliantly behaved and settled down just after 8.30pm to a good night's sleep (although I am sure that there was some talking after lights out...!)

Wet weather doesn't dampen the spirits of Bath's Best Boarders...

The weather was less than favourable to us on Saturday and Sunday but this didn't stop us from having some fun! The children enjoyed some art and craft activities in the morning followed by a local trip out in the afternoon. In typical British fashion, however, as soon as we arrived at the park it started to rain! Never fear though because there is always a cunning plan...off to Toys R Us we went to choose a new game that we could all play when we got back to High Vinnalls. The popular choice was Don't Steal Buster's Bones which has provided us all with some very scary moments since.

After a few last minute re-arrangements, the trip to Salisbury happened on Sunday and the children had a wonderful time taking in a guided tour of the Cathedral as well as visiting the local amenities. The scenery and history of the famous building was spectacular and you could see the children enjoying the whole experience. Have a look at some of the pictures of our last weekend before half term...

At home at Bath's Best Boarding House...

This Wacky Wednesday was all about relaxing....after a busy day of lessons and sports matches, it was time to chill out and have some independent time at High Vinnalls. The snooker table was put up, the table football was in full flow, balloon games were played and there were plenty of other games played too! Everyone enjoyed each other's company and after a bit of tuck it was time to brush those teeth and hit the pillow...

Story night at High Vinnalls...

The school independent listener, Mrs. Susan Wright, came to Bath's Best Boarding House on Tuesday evening to once again reacquaint herself with our boarders. She listened to them read and was very impressed with the way that they were confident and told their stories. We were then lucky enough to listen to Susan read a bedtime story (The London Eye Mystery by Siobhan Dowd). Susan will be visiting us again in the next half of term and we are looking forward to it already!

Boxtrolls & Caves - a tale of two trips....

So Saturday morning was a bit of a washout but it didn't stop our hardy Spanish boarder from venturing out to play hockey on a dampened Upper (along with Mr. Ward). But never fear, not even the rain can stop Bath's Best Boarding House from having fun! Boxtrolls was the film of choice as Mrs. Higgins and Mr. Murphy escorted the group (with popcorn and all the trimmings) to the cinema on Saturday afternoon. Everyone enjoyed the film and they even managed to get on the bean bags near the front! The weather in the afternoon turned out to be glorious and it was just the trick as we stayed out playing football, swinging on the swing or bouncing on the trampoline until the night drew in - but the fun didn't stop there as the boarders enjoyed watching (or laughing at!) Strictly Come Dancing on the TV!

Sunday was an altogether different trip as Mrs. Briggs and Mr. Dixon drove the children to another country - but passports were not needed (only £12.80 for the bridge!) as Wales was the destination and a visit to the beautiful Clearwell Caves near Lydney. The children had a fab time and enjoyed their visit, playing on the various items that were there to showcase the iron mining industry. After a quick walk, there was time to visit the cafe and the gift shop before a swift return home for well-deserved fish and chips. And then for the surprise.....an end of weekend dip in the pool to make sure that everyone was tired out and would sleep well! We hope that the pictures below give you a little taste of the visit to Clearwell on Sunday (it was too dark to take photos in the cinema and too wet in the swimming pool!!)

Weekends are so much fun at Bath's Best Boarding House...

Fancy a trip out?

Where shall we go? Chew Valley Lake...or Avon Valley Country Park?

Or shall we just stay in and make some cushions?

I know, let's go and have breakfast with someone famous!

Well, at High Vinnalls it is quite simple - let's do all of the above! See if you can spot the famous person...
