Saturday - After a morning of watching brothers, sisters and friends playing Westwood House matches, the children had certainly worked up an appetite for some hearty food by the time lunchtime arrived. A brisk walk into Bath was followed by a civilised lunch at Pizza Express where the pizza and pasta flowed and the obligatory selfie (although a little fuzzy!) was taken.
Sunday - After a lie-in until 8.00am (wow!), breakfast, prep and a bit of free time, the boarders went to the dining hall for the world famous Kingswood Brunch before heading off to At Bristol, an interactive extravaganza of weird and wonderful scientific and technology based hands-on experiments. The children (as well as Mrs. Gilmore and Mr. Chitson!) had a blast with the planetarium, soft play and animation experiments being the most popular aspects. Enjoy a selection of photos below:

Bath's Best Boarding House were climbing the walls...literally...
When you say that the children were 'climbing the walls' it is often the case that one would think that they were misbehaving. But for our Wacky Wednesday this week, the children were quite literally climbing the walls in the Senior School sports hall. Mr. Hull donned his harness and his hard hat and kept a careful eye on the children as they climbed, belayed and abseiled on the fabulous indoor climbing wall.
If they weren't climbing, then they were running around playing football, basketball, netball and just having a good time in each others' company as well as spending time with the Sixth Form students who were brilliant.
As one of the boarder's said when we got home 'That was the best Wacky Wednesday ever!'

High Vinnalls remembers The Fallen....
This year's remembrance took on an extra significance with the anniversary of the outbreak of The Great War in 1914 and the whole Kingswood community was involved in reflecting and remembering this occasion as well as the other conflicts that have taken place over the course of recent history. It is particularly important to mark this occasion so that we can support those families at Kingswood who have a military or forces background.
On Saturday 8th November, we all went to watch the very poignant and superbly delivered 'Kingswood Remembers' which commemorated the centenary of the outbreak of World Ward 1. The mixture of music and drama along with pictures and video was a reminder of the horrors of war and the great sacrifices that people made a hundred years ago.
The boarders then visited St. Nicholas' Church, Bathampton for the local community Remembrance Service on Sunday and remembered those that gave their lives as well as making sure that we keep those that are still involved in conflict all around the world well and truly in our thoughts.
The following Monday, the whole school was treated to the inspiring 'History Man', Kevin Hicks who came in and delivered a thought provoking and very interactive history of the First and Second World Wars. Both children and parents' attention was fixed for the whole time that he spoke and his wonderful array of props proved that there is no better way of learning history than through 'living it' experiences.
The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.....and the KPS Remembrance service was a beautiful occasion and we commemorated those members of the Kingswood community who gave their lives in the war through the planting of crosses and ceramic poppies in the garden at the front of school. If you do get the chance to go and see it, please do so.

A bumper ten days at High Vinnalls...
Well, the first two weeks of this half term have flown by and have been full of so many great opportunities and experiences for the children. Visits to museums, performances of Shakespeare, rugby and hockey matches, the Roman Baths, a Cribbs Causeway shopping experience, a wonderful fireworks display, a beautiful remembrance service (more of how we marked the occasion later), a trip to the zoo and a music concert - could there be another place where so many diverse and wonderful things happen?!
